FAFLÁGOS - New*Sea*Wave
is an experimental solo concert with voice, classical guitar, harmonica and electronics; with influences from the French Chanson, the English New Wave, the American Post-Punk, the Greek New Wave, the Caribbean Ska and Calypso, the Brazilian Bossa Nova, the Venezuelan waltzes and the Spanish Flamenco.
The programme includes new songs of his own, as well as his own original compositions for theatre performances, new versions of songs by Dr. Opin, compositions from the classical guitar repertoire from the Baroque era to the present day, 17th century music from Italy, and songs by favourite musicians such as Van Morrison,Tom Waits & Leonard Cohen, or Mikis Theodorakis, Dimitris Lagios & Loukianos Keilaidonis among others.
Yorgos Pervolarakis says:
"Faflágos is a magnificent bay of the South Cretan Sea west of ancient Sidonia. There the splashing of the sea almost never stops sounding through the riverbed of the river Blavaris, while in summer the cicadas seem to sing all the melodies that are born on the shores of this world. It is a place of sunrise and sunset, departure and return, a place where in August 2017 the main body of the first version of these solo performances of mine was formed, which I could not call anything else but Faflágos."
In these shows Yorgos Pervolarakis sings in English, in Greek, in French, in Spanish, in Italian, in German & in Japanese.
